This is a quick guide on how to claim or edit your Google for Business page.
Your Google of Business page can be claimed/ edited here.
A walk through of why “Suggested Edits” can kill your business can be found here.
Your online presence hinges on your Google for Business page! If you don’t have this claimed you are powerless to change or edit your categories. You are powerless to modify your hours of operations, website, photos, logos, etc. Once this is Google page is claimed you can take advantage of growing traffic through search engines. Your categories and keywords in this profile are critical to internet traffic helping your business.
Keywords like “Dog Friendly Patio” will drive traffic that Google would otherwise not have added to your profile through an algorithm. If you have a bar AND a restaurant, both categories should be added to your profile.
Sub categories like “craft beer” “offtrack betting” or “outdoor patio” can bring in people Googling these words which very few businesses take advantage of. The search traffic is less for these words but so is the competition. R anking high for secondary words is much easier.
One of the biggest sources of customer frustration is when your Google hours of operation are wrong. Once claimed this is easily updated through your Google for Business panel. Ignoring this will sooner or later annoy customers who show up to your place to find the doors locked.
I’ll say it again,
your Google for Business page is the MOST CRITICAL aspect of ranking high in search results
and keeping a great online presence. Google is the only search engine that matters in my opinion. Next to word of mouth and online reviews, Google is the biggest factor in driving traffic into your business. Other platforms will gather your info from your Google for Business page so if you’re info is wrong or missing here it could be wrong all over the internet.
