The Future of Online Review Sites in 2019 will be centered on recommendations based on each individual person’s likes and dislikes. Amazon uses a system much like this currently. You are most likely familiar with the “if you like that product, then try this one” type of algorithm. Instead of using Yelp’s sea of negativity, review platforms will evolve. Most likely into a place where the app will recommend places to eat based on YOUR likes. Not an opinion of a random person.
The more you like dive bars for example, the more dive bars will be recommended to you. The more places with words that contain “fast service” or “friendly staff” will be recommended. Especially if those are the criteria you place the value upon. I’m sure apps or platforms like this exist now. It’s just a matter of time until one specific one rises to the top. This type of platform is antiquated and universally disliked by the bar and restaurant community. It’s time for a change!
