Yelp isn't going away anytime soon

When it comes to online reviews, Yelp is the king.  Almost all restaurant and bar owners and managers have a special kind of hatred for Yelp.  Some negative reviews are malicious on purpose, others are just plain wrong.  When you start to leverage Yelp to your advantage it becomes a valuable tool instead something you’d rather prefer didn’t exist.  The majority of Yelp and other online reviews are accurate, whether we want to believe it or not.  In my several years in the reputation management field, many of these people were SO upset by the way they were treated that they created a brand new Yelp account just so they could tell the world how bad your business is.  Responding to these reviews gives you a voice.  It gives you a chance to publicly thank the people who are true fans.  Like any public forum there is an exact right and wrong way to do this.  Doing this wrong could cost you way more than you think.
